Remembering Adair Air Force Station

Adair Living History hosted 45—50 attendees to this year’s Adair History Day on September 10. Dennis Emerson, ALH board member and former resident of the Adair Air Force Station, gave a terrific presentation on the Air Force Station, its origins and its participation in the SAGE program during the early years of the Cold War. Mr. Emerson’s father, John Emerson, served at the Air Force Station in the late 1960s. The audience heard wonderful details of what it was like to live here during that time.

Charline King brought along her book Adair Diary: A Mostly True Collaborative Memoir by Charline King, Wanda Tobiassen and Judi Vedamuthu, and made herself available to sign copies. This book serves as a wonderful companion piece to John Baker’s book about Camp Adair, as it takes up just prior to the area becoming the City of Adair Village.
